Why is it that I understand women speaking German much better than men speaking German?

I've found myself in a foreign country 7-8 time zones away from most of my family and friends. Hopefully this will help you keep in touch with me and relate to this experience.

It's a genetic imperative, or something.
Or maybe you hear high frequencies better than low and just don't notice it with English because you're more proficient with it.
Or I'm totally just making crap up.
I think it might actually be the same for me with English: I do sometimes have trouble understanding people, and I think it's mostly men that I don't understand well.
I'm sure I will pay attention to those details now that you've made me think about it.
